Juz 1: What was the response of the angels when Allah (SWT) told them about the creation of Adam (A)?
List the name of the Surah and number of the ayyah.

Juz 2: Ten characteristics of Birr (a righteous person) are described in which verse and what is the context?
Also, name the Surah and the number of the ayyah.

Juz 3:  In one verse in this Juz, war has been declared by Allah (SWT) and His Messenger (SAW) against people who deal with Riba (usury/interest), a major sin. 
Name the Surah, the number of the ayyah, and write out the ayyah itself.

Juz 4: There is an ayyah describing how the non-believers sweep through the lands in the Dunya to gain much wealth. However, as Muslims, we should not be deceived by their goals.
Name the Surah and the number of the ayyah. 

Juz 5: There is a verse in Juz 5 that the Muslim scholars have called the "verse of the ten rights that regulate relations and rights between Muslims." Among these rights is "to be kind to your neighbors." 
Name the Surah and list the number of the ayyah and Hizb. 

Juz 6: Muslims believe that Isa (A) was not killed nor crucified. In which ayyah does Allah (SWT) describe that Isa (A) was raised to the heavens?

Juz 7: Allah (SWT) advices His believers not to defame the idols or gods of the non-believers so that they will not defame Allah (SWT) in return.

Juz 8: In this ayyah, Allah (SWT) commands the people not to enter into talks about Him without possessing proper knowledge.

What is the name of the Surah and the number of the ayyah? (Hint: through this ayyah, Fahisha (immoral deeds), transgression, shirk, and lying about Allah are prohibited.)

 

Juz 9: This ayyah tells us that with Iman and Taqwa come blessings from heaven and the earth, while kufr brings torment.

Give the number of the ayyah and hizb as well as the name of the Surah.

 

Juz 10: This ayyah tells us there are eight groups/categories of people to whom Zakat should be given.

List those 8 groups, and provide name of Surah and number of ayyah.

 

Juz 11: A verse in this Juz mentions how nonbelievers believe that Allah is the Lord who gives, controls, creates, and decrees life and death (Tawheed Al-Rububiyyah), yet they do not submit to Him through Islam.

Give the name of the Surah, number of ayyah and number of hizb.

 

Juz 12: This question deals with two consecutive ayyat. In part of the first verse, Allah (SWT) tells us: "Allah is predominant over His affairs, but most of the people do not know."

In the next verse Allah says, "We gave him (in reference to a particular prophet) judgement and knowledge. And thus we reward the doers of good."

Give the numbers of the two ayyat, the Surah, and the name of the prophet whom the second verse is in reference to.

 

Juz 13: In this verse Allah mentions the nine qualities of the blessed ones which will lead to Paradise. Allah says, "Peace (security) be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home."

Give the number of the ayyah and name of the Surah, and list these nine qualities.

 

Juz 14: This is a verse through which Allah informs us that to Allah prostrate all that is in the Heavens and all that are on the Earth.

Name the Surah, and give the number of the ayyah and hizb.

 

Juz 15: This is a verse through which Allah (SWT) commands us to worship Him alone and to be dutiful to our parents. The next verse teaches us a great du'aa for the parents.

Name the Surah, the number of the verse, and write down the du'aa for parents.     

Juz 16: A verse in this Juz explains, "Indeed those who have believed and done righteous deeds, the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection.
Name the Surah and give number of ayyah.

Juz 17: Allah (SWT) tells us about how the Ummah is from one nation and He is one Rab, so worship him only. 
Name the Surah and give number of Ayyah

Juz 18: There is a verse where Allah commands His servants and Messangers (AH) to eat lawful food and do righteous deeds. 
Name the Surah and number of ayyah.

Juz 19: The Quran has 114 Surahs, and one of the Surahs does not being with the Besmellah. This technically means there are only 113 Besmellah in the Quran. However, the Besmellah still appears 114 times because in Juz 19 there is a Surah which contains the Besmellah once at the beginning and then in the middle.
Name the Surah and the number of the ayyah where the Besmellah is. 

Juz 20: A Surah in this Juz narrates the story of a prophet, the father of two women, and the marriage of the prophet to one of the daughters. A verse praises the modesty and good manner of the women.
Name the prophet, the Surah, and the number of the ayyah.

Juz 21: There is a verse where Allah commands Muslims to take Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as an example. 
Give the name of the Surah, number of the ayyah and Hizb

Juz 22: Scholars called this verse the "Hijab verse," in which Allah mandates that women wear hijabs. 
Give the Surah and the number of the ayyah.

Juz 23: There is a verse in this Juz where Allah tells us the story of a prophet,"Had he not been of them who glorify Allah, he would have indeed remained inside the belly of the fish until the Day of Ressurection."
Name the prophet, Surah, and number of ayyah.

Juz 24: According to Muslim scholars, like students of Ibn Mas'ud, the ayyah in the Quran which brings the most relief is in this Juz. Name the Surah and give the number of the ayyah. 
Hint: Do not despair of the mercy of your Lord.

Juz 25: There is a series of verses where Allah describes the state of those who have Taqwa and will enter Paradise. They will be dressed in garments made of Sundus and Istabraq.
Give the name of the Surah and number of the ayyah.

Juz 26: Allah has commanded the people to establish righteousness on earth, as well as to join the ties of kinship by treating the relatives well in speech and action, and spending wealth in charity. In this Juz two verses warn those who spread corruption and sever ties of kinship. Such are the ones Allah cursed, so He made them deaf and blind.
Give the name of the Surah and number of the ayyah.

Juz 27: A verse in this Juz is repeated many times and translates as, "And which of your Lord's favors will you deny?"
Give the name of the Surah, how many times the ayyah appears, and write the Arabic verse.

Juz 28: There is a verse in this Juz where Allah says that a Mu'min should not have animosity (ghil) toward their brother/sister. 
Name the surah and give the number of the verses.


Juz 29: There a verse in this Juz were Allah highly praised the manner of the Prophet (SAW): "And indeed you are of a great moral character."
Give the name of the Surah and number of the ayyah.

Juz 30: A Surah reflects some of the very important attributes of Allah. It is equal to 1/3 of the Quran. 
Name the Surah and the number of ayyahs it has.
Bonus: What is the one word in this Surah that is found nowhere else in the Quran?

  1. New prayer times starting this Saturday:
    Fajr – 5:40 AM
    Isha – 9:15 PM
  2. Today, Friday September 3, there will be iftar for singles only. On Saturday and Sunday everyone in the community is invited to join the community iftar dinner.
  3. All are encouraged to join Qiyam ul layeel which starts at 3 am. Sahoor will be served every day.
  4. The Muslim Student Organization will have their Qiyam ul layeel program tonight. Suhoor will be served.
  5. Khatme al Quran in Tarawih will be on Tuesday September 7.
  6. This year Zakat ul Fitr is $8. All are requested to place the money into the envelopes next to the donation boxes labeled “Zakat ul Firt” and drop it into the Zakat Fund Box.
  7. Inshallah if we complete 30 days of Ramadan, Eid will be on Friday September 10 at 9:00 am at Cosmo Park. In case of rain, another venue will be announced this Tuesday.
  8. The community Eid Dinner will be on Saturday September 18 in Stotler Lounge at Memorial Union. Food will be catered. All are invited.
  9. The ICCM basketball league will begin next Sunday, September 12. Games will be played each Sunday at Oakland Jr. High School from 10am -2pm. All brothers age 15-Up and encouraged to participate. The registration fee is $20, see the bulletin board or go to ICCMSPORTS.ORG for more details.

  1. New prayer times starting this Saturday:
    Fajr – 5:30 AM
  2. This year Zakat ul Fitr is $8. All are requested to place the money into the envelopes next to the donation boxes labeled “Zakat ul Firt” and drop it into the Zakat Fund Box.
  3. Brothers and sisters who are in need of Zakat money please contact Brother Rezwan Islam and Mohammad Muraywid.
  4. If you are interested in performing Ihtikaf, please contact the ICCM Office.
  5. In search of Laylatul Qadir, Qiyaam ul Layl will be at 3:00am beginning this Monday. Suhoor will be served.
  6. Every Saturday and Sunday during Ramadan, all are invited to join the community iftar dinner.

  1. Inna lillah Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajioon. The father of Br. Zaid Mahir passed away onTuesday, August 17, 2010. He is now attending the funeral overseas and will be back late next week.  Please remember them in your Dua'a. May Allah (SWT) accept him in Jannah and give his family patience and Taqwa.

  2. Every Saturday and Sunday during Ramadan, all are invited to join the community iftar dinner.
  3. Tonight, singles are invited to attend the Friday Potluck iftar which will be catered by Olive Café. Families who are attending are still requested to bring a dish that can feed at least 5 people.
  4. Please donate money into the Iftar and Ramadan Activities donation box located outside of the prayer hall.
  5. The taraweeh program for children will be starting after Isha and will be available on the weekends for those who have kids and would like them to attend.
